Adventures of a Mid-20s City Girl: The Beginning

If you know me personally, you’ll know that I’m in no way athletic, outdoorsy, nor open to trying new activities. Typically, I like the mundane routine things of life. I like to go to the same restaurants, order the same food, trying activities that I know I can be good at, and shy away from activities that I’ve never been exposed to. Why? The reality is, I’m afraid of failing. As that saying goes, “you’re your own worst critic.” That certainly couldn’t be more true in my case. In less than a month, I’ll be turning 26 (jesus fuck). I’m basically almost 30 and I still haven’t experienced a lot of things I should.

Most people my age have different goals than I do. For many, the ultimate dream goes like this: Be engaged, get married, buy a house, and have a kid. Whereas, my personal goal is to have an established career,  travel around the world, and gain different kinds of experiences. Certainly no kids or engagement at age 25--maybe in the future?

In the past three years, I’ve focused my time and energy in navigating adulthood, and frankly, dating.  As much as I want to share my misfortunes in dating, I’d rather share my misfortunes (or success) in trying things I wouldn’t normally do. It’d be more lighthearted, comical even!, but most importantly, it would lead to personal growth. Either way, it's a win-win!

This blog will chronicle my attempts at trying new activities, athletic/sports attempts (lol), weird trends (e.g., cryotherapy, cupping, etc.), weird foods, and so much more. My goal is to grow from this project and discover myself in the process.

My next entry will cover my attempt at fencing! How random? I'll report back on November 2nd! ;)

Can y'all see me fencing?

The question is, can we turn a nerdy lab rat into an outdoorsy adventurous woman? We'll find out! Stay tuned.
